2013: A Year in Review

January

We starts this year off with a bang! We celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary and the day after we got a pleasant surprise and found out we were expecting baby number two. I went in for a routine check up and wanted to talk to my midwife about trying to conceive but to my surprise the test was already positive.

February

We got a blizzard and a lot of snow this month!

We also  all three got bad colds and the flu. That was not a fun month considering I was pregnant and couldn't take anything for it.

March

I debuted my baby bump for the first time! And we also took a trip to Minnesota.

April

We celebrated Easter!

Went hunting for eggs...
All while my belly was expanding.
At the end of this month we packed up all of our stuff and put it in storage. We moved in with a loving couple and next door to some dear friends.

May

Jess made a best friend this summer. She spent a lot of time with her buddy Parker and his sisters since we were living next door.

We found out what I had suspected since the beginning. Jess was getting her very own baby brother. And I also found out I had placenta previa on the same day.

I celebrated my 28th birthday with a whole day planned out by my thoughtful hubby.

June

We spent a lot of time at the pool.

And next door with our neighbors.

I even had a little baby scare which landed me in the hospital a couple times.

July

We celebrated the 4th of July and it was the first year Jess wasn't scared of the fireworks. She was actually pretty obsessed.

And my belly grew bigger and bigger!

August

We were not expecting Jayven to make his entrance into the world this month but he had other plans for us all.
He was born at almost 34 weeks. 6 weeks early via emergency c-section. A whopping 4 pounds 15 ounces.
He was oh so tiny and oh so cute!
He spent the first four weeks of his life in the NICU.
That was the longest four weeks of our lives.

September

We finally got to take him home!

And were all together as a new family of four.

Then we finally got to move into the place we waited a whole year for so patiently.

This is where we will call home for about the next four years.

October

We had Jayven's baby blessing.

Jessalyn turned three years old with a Sofia the first themes birthday party.
Jayven celebrated his first Halloween.
We all got dressed up!

November

Our newest nephew Krew was born. Jayven has a built in best friend to grow up with.

We celebrated thanksgiving and Jordan cooked his first turkey. Jayven pretty much slept through his first Thanksgiving.

December

We celebrated Jordan's 29th birthday!

Jessalyn and Jayven met Santa and Mrs. Claus with no tears.

And Jayven celebrated his first Christmas!

All in all we had a very eventful year! We were blessed with our new baby boy. I can't wait to see what 2014 brings. Happy new year!

Christmas Time!

We've had a fun filled Christmas with family this year. We've been lucky to have grandpa and grandma visiting from Arizona.

Our tradition we've had since we've moved here to Kansas City is spending Christmas Eve with James and Heather and their boys. We went over for dinner and had delicious ham, corn and mashed potatoes with pumpkin pie and cake for desert.

Then after dinner we all sat around and listened to some great stories about the birth of Christ and also sang some songs.
We exchanged gifts with all of the cousins. Jess got this adorable little Merida doll with a little pony. She kept saying how pretty she was and how much she loved her.

We attempted to get a picture of grandma and grandpa with six out of their eleven grand kids.

When we got home we did our tradition of opening up our Christmas jammies. Jordan and I always exchange comfy pants.

Christmas morning Jess and her brother didn't wake up until 10 am! She was half asleep but walked downstairs and was excited and ready to open her presents.

First we went through our stockings. Anytime anyone would ask what Santa was going to bring her age would always says "candy in my sock." Haha.
She helped baby brother by showing him all of his presents in his stocking.
She was happy enough after she went through her stocking. We had to remind her that she still had actual presents to open.

Daddy got some goodies in his stocking too!

Then it was time for the real presents. She didn't even know where to begin.

Baby brother was enjoying his new owl Christmas pop up book with grandpa.

And Jess helped baby brother open his present. We got him Rex from toy story. We figured even though he has no idea right now eventually he will love toy story and dinosaurs right. Don't all boys?

We finally completed her collection of princesses! She's been asking for Snow white and Tiana forever.

One of the presents Jordan got from his parents was a box of cereal. It's kinda a funny childhood memory for the reason why he got it.

After we opened up all our presents and enjoyed grandmas traditional cinnamon rolls and watched some movies, then we met up with James and Heather at our favorite Chinese Buffett for dinner.
I think my babies really enjoyed their Christmas. I know I did!
We ended the night with martinellis and old videos of Jordan when he was a little boy.

Jayven had so much fun he was all tuckered out with his new dinosaur. Merry Christmas everyone!!
