Life in Kansas

We have been very busy the past two weeks that we have been here. When we first got here we moved all of our boxes into apartment number one and lived around our boxes for about two weeks. That was no fun and it was hard to feel settled because we weren't able to settle in. This Saturday we got to move into our apartment number two. The one with the washer and dryer hookups. When we got into the apartment we wanted to look around to see how everything looked and where our washer and dryer were going to go. We looked around, and looked around and looked around some more. We haven't had to best of luck from the start with these apartments so we weren't about to doubt it if they messed up again. We took another look around and looked in the closet in the master bedroom. And surprise! There it was! So now we are left with little closet space, which has been very difficult to me. But we are making it work. We got a lot of help from our brother and sister in law James and Heather. We didn't have to worry about putting our kitchen together at all thanks to Heather. The only thing we have left is the dining room.

Jordan started school last Monday. Right now he is only taking two classes which is good so he can slowly ease into the busy schedule he is going to have in the years ahead. He is enjoying it so far and has been getting used to the whole studying swing of things. His school is literally across the street from our apartment so he doesn't have too far to go. He hasn't walked because the weather has been kinda funny lately with some storms and rain.

Baby J is growing and growing. I have been feeling really good. Only tired of course from moving and my growing baby in my belly. We have been so busy running around since we have been here that we haven't had a chance to make an appointment with a doctor. We should be finding out if Baby J is a boy or a girl very soon and will announce it as soon as we find out. I can't wait to find out so I can pick out the right color for the baby room.

I went and collected a bunch of applications at some nearby salons but haven't had a chance to take them back yet. I'm hoping to find something soon but will hopefully only be working part time till around the time the baby comes.

As far as the weather goes, I have been loving it. It doesn't feel like May to me. I'm used to sweating my butt off around this time in Tucson. It's been pretty chilly during the nights and some rainy weather. The warmer days have been perfect. It is tornado season here right now and some surrounding areas have been hit with some. We haven't gotten any warnings in this area but it's still pretty crazy to think about. Instead of saying "We're not in Kansas anymore," it's more like "We're not in Tucson anymore!" haha! Those are some updates so far. We'll have a lot more to come :)

The Big Move

We finally made the big move. We were pretty much all packed up and ready to go by Friday. We ate Eegee's on the floor of our bedroom the night before and slept on an air mattress. We only got about three or four hours of sleep that night and woke up early Saturday morning to put all the last things in our cars.

We were very tired but so ready to go! Penny was ready but a little confused about why our house was empty and we were going for a car ride.

We're all packed up and ready to hit the road. Jordan needed a little energy boost on our way. It really didn't work that well.

We drove through New Mexico and Texas and made it to Oklahoma City. Our day from start to finish was 5 am to 5 am the next morning. We went a full 24 hours. We drove through the night and finally got to our hotel right after the sun rose on Sunday morning! We decided that we will never do that again! lol. We were fighting to keep ourselves awake through the night. It never felt so good to lay in a bed even though we only got about three hours of sleep that night.

Luckily the next day we only had about 5 more hours to go. I had to get a picture in Oklahoma because I have been wanting to go since I was about 12 years old. Ever since I became a fan of the best band ever.....Hanson, duh! We didn't drive through Tulsa but just being in Oklahoma was good enough for me.

Jordan got to drive the big truck for the rest of the way. Penny did great through the whole trip. She pretty much slept the whole time. She should have been the one driving since she got the most sleep out of all of us. Haha. I think she was pretty much over it near the end and was telling us she wanted to go back home.

We were so excited when we finally entered Kansas. That meant our road trip was almost at an end.

Through the rest of the way to Kansas City I tried to stay away to check out all of the surroundings of our new home. It was pretty much exactly the way I pictured it. Maybe even more beautiful.

This is only the beginning of our big adventure for about the next six years and beyond. I'm excited to see what's in store!
