Jayven is 6 months old!

Jayven had his 6 month check up yesterday. He is now 16 pounds 8 ounces and 25.5 inches long. He's come a long way from birth at 4 pounds 15 ounces. Jess and Jayven both had little colds over the past week and Jayven ended up getting his first ear infection. My poor baby boy was pretty miserable for a day. But now he's back to his silly self.
We were having a little photo shoot with this little diaper baby while we waited for the doctor.
Jess took this picture of Jayven and me. I'm not sure where Jayven got such light brown hair. Definitely not from me. Mine is naturally that dark. He was born with so much hair but pretty much all of it fell out except for his little comb over faux hawk at the top. I think it's so cute so I don't have the heart to cut it.
Jayven turned 6 months old today so we threw him a half birthday party.
We had a little monster theme. Isn't he the cutest little monster you've ever seen!

I told Jess to pick out her outfit for baby brothers party and this is what she came up with. Haha. It works.
She wrapped this present for baby brother and unwrapped it for him. I think she had more fun than he did!
He got his first sippy cup which he's going to need some practice with. And he thought this box with wrapping paper was pretty cool. He just kept trying to eat it.
And of course sister opened it for him.
He loves his new elephant toy! It squeaks and is nice and squishy.
Then he got his first taste of baby food! He's has little licks of chips (thanks to sister) and a banana. But hasn't actually ate anything other than breastmilk.
He wasn't very sure about it. He took a few spoonfuls but spit half of it out. Then wasn't very interested when I tried to give him more. We'll give it a few more tries and see if he shows a little more interest. Jess was the same. She didn't actually show interest till she was about 8 months old.
His facial expressions were pretty priceless!

This boy has come a long way in 6 months. From the tiny little NICU baby to this silly little chunky boy. It's funny how different babies can be. He is so opposite from Jess. She was the easiest baby ever. She didn't cry a lot. She was always happy. If I needed to calm her down or cheer her up all I had to do was put her to my boob and nursing did the trick.  Jayven isn't a hard baby but he can be pretty finicky. He gets overwhelmed when too much is going on around him. He's happy most of the time but can switch to being mad in a matter of seconds. He loves to be held. He would actually prefer to be held all day long if it was his choice. He has a little temper. When he gets mad he throws himself back as hard as he can. He gets man when he can't have something that he wants. He has a high pitched squeal he lets out when he gets mad. He laughed a lot sooner than Jess did. It took her forever to laugh and took so much to get her to laugh. He's pretty easy to get a little giggle out of. And it's the cutest sound you'll ever hear. When he gets too mad he won't nurse. He has to calm down before he will want to. Totally new for me. He does love to eat though! He doesn't have to be nursed to sleep. That was the only way Jess would go to sleep. Which is nice for me because Jordan has been able to put him to sleep for me. He liked binkies in the beginning now he would rather just chew on them. He loves blankets. He would rather suck on a blanket and loves to burrow his face in them when he's tired. And he prefers to sleep with his face covered. Just like his papa. It's pretty darn cute but I have to keep checking on him to make sure he's still breathing.
He's grabbing onto everything! Hair, clothes, literally anything he can get his hands on he will grab it. You can't leave anything in his reach. He's so happy when he wakes up in the morning. It takes him forever to wake up but once he's awake he talks up a storm. He loves his sister so much. He's always watching her and smiles at her the most. All she has to do is look at her sometimes and he gives her a big smile sometimes when I think she's being too rough and I tell her to stop, he's smiling away at her.
She loves to be a "good helper" as she says. She will get me diapers. Sometimes she will attempt to change his diaper with my help. When I'm busy doing something and he's getting fussy she will go and get toys for him to make him happy. She gets so excited when he wakes up from his naps. She goes right up To him and tells him how cute he is and asks if he had a good nappy. She's always saying how cute his little nose is, or hands are, or mouth is. She is as in love with him as he is with her. I really wish that sibling love would last forever! Haha.
Can't wait to see what the next 6 months brings with these two!
