Two Years of Memories

As most of you know, we moved out of our apartment two weeks ago. We have been waiting to get into student housing and didn't want to waste our money on the ridiculous amount of rent we have been paying at our apartment. Paying rent while living off of a students budget is not easy at all.  Moving out was not fun. It felt like all the packing and boxes were never ending. We realized that apartment was the longest place we lived in our entire 6 years of marriage. We were there for two years. And although when the last few months rolled around we couldn't wait to be out. Moving out was still pretty bittersweet. So many memories happened in that little apartment of ours.

We moved in when Jess was only 6 months old. This picture above was of Jessalyn on Easter 2011. Just a day or so after we moved in.
This goofy baby grew into a silly toddler in the two years we lived there.

She got into lots of messes in our bathroom. This picture right here wasn't the last time she did this.

We spent a lot of time on that little balcony of ours. We had many dinners out there when the weather was nice. She played and yelled hi to all the neighbors and people passing by. She even dropped quite a few things off of there. I'm not sure how many toys or other items we lost out there.
This apartment was where she learned to crawl for the first time.

She spent a lot of time staring out her bedroom winter with Penny.

She got all pretty and dressed up for church each Sunday but more importantly she got dressed up right here in this picture for her mommy's baptism in May 2011.

She played a lot. Made lots of messes.

Was very curious. And got into everything.

She did a lot of relaxing and sleeping in this bedroom.

And we spent her first birthday here.
We actually celebrated a few birthdays among the three of us through out the years.

Our awkward living room went through makeover after makeover.
It was always a work in progress.

We celebrated our first Christmas as a family with our first tree ever!

Her baby room turned into a big girl room. I will definitely miss how spacious the bedrooms were.

We spent a lot of our time in the kitchen. Making breakfast, lunch and dinner and snacks in between. That's where she learned to open the fridge by herself and learned to help herself to some food.

Many family prayers were said here.

And her second birthday was celebrated with neighbors and family.

We also celebrated out second Christmas in this apartment.

Lots and Lots and Lots of playing with all her favorite toys happened here.
And we watched some pretty crazy snow storms happen right outside our window.
It's pretty much the only home Jess has known in her short two years of life. And so many happy changes happened while we were here. And even though we will miss certain things, we were definitely ready to move on.
At the moment we are in a very temporary living situation living next door to some very dear friends and living with a very sweet older couple. We were so lucky to find this place to live while we wait to get into our new home. Actually it was found for us just about two days before we had to move. Thank goodness for such a great friend we have in Heidi. But now we are patiently waiting to move into our new home where we will make a lot more fun memories!

It's a.....

.......BOY!!!!
Our 20 week ultrasound was on Thursday, May 9. Of course time passed by so slowly before then. We left Jess with some friends so Jordan and I could go to the appointment. I was so anxious and excited that my hands were all sweaty and I couldn't sit still while we sat in the waiting room.

When we finally got back to the room the ultrasound tech asked if we knew the gender yet so we told her not yet but we really wanted to find out. So she got into it pretty quickly. She started moving the little doppler thing around on my belly and as soon as she got to the area it was pretty obvious. I saw that little thing between the babys legs and knew right away that I had a little boy in there! I wasn't surprised at all! But I was super excited to confirm what I had suspected from the beginning. And so excited that now we get to have a precious baby boy.
The ultrasound tech was having a lot of trouble getting pictures because he wouldn't stop moving. She said he was the most active baby she has seen in a long time.
Then one of the cutest things happened. He stood still long enough for us to watch him try to get his tiny little thumb in his little mouth. You could see him trying pretty hard and opening his mouth to get it in there. I got pretty teary eyed because of how stinkin cute it was!! But then he must have got bored and gave up and rolled over. Haha.
This little boy is already trouble. He made me so sick the first few months. And has caused other pregnancy related issues that I never experienced with Jess. And then he was a crazy little wiggly guy who would barely stay still long enough for her. So I think I'm going to have my hands full with this one.

What I'm mostly excited about it to see what he's going to look like. The Sheffer gene is pretty darn dominate. Take a look at Jess for example. She's practically her daddy's twin. So I can only imagine having another little twin of Jordan's but a boy version this time. All I know is he is going to be super freakin cute!!
After our appointment we planned on going and buying a few outfits with some money I had been saving up. It was so fun buying new baby clothes and getting to look in the boy section this time. Then we went to tell Jess about her baby brother. She's really excited and keeps talking about "baby brudder". She's going to be such a great big sister.

Then we finished off our exciting day with a trip to the Temple. What a great place to celebrate the newest member to our eternal family!
