We've been busy unpacking for the past two weeks. Yes, we finally moved after a long time of waiting for something to become available. A whole year to be exact! It's been a busy two weeks. Unpacking has taken longer than usual because it's hard to get things done with a newborn who loves to be snuggled and an almost three year old who wants to play with everything we take out of boxes.
I love a good before and after picture. There's the disaster before and the after is still a work in progress but a huge improvement. Jess will eventually be sharing her room with Jayven once we get him in a crib so his side of the room is still under construction.
I got their closet almost all organized and just thought it was cute to see boy clothes hanging on one side and girl clothes on the other.
Our bedroom and third bedroom are still a disaster but we are slowly working on those. For some reason it feels like the boxes are never ending. I guess since all of stuff has been in storage the past five months we forgot about everything that we had.
Now that we have Jess' room set up we started the process of transitioning her into her big girl bed. She has been sleeping with us since she was born. Day one was a rough one for all of us. I don't know who cried more. Me or her. I cried because it was hard listening to my baby girl crying to snuggle with mommy and as much as I wanted to snuggle with her too I had to ignore her and not give in. It's been about a week now and it doesn't seem like it's gotten any easier for any of us. It takes a good hour of her crying and begging and saying anything and everything to get out of bed. Then she finally passes out when she just can't take it anymore. That's all after we read a story and have a family prayer. She sleeps through the night fine in her bed. A few nights she has found her way in our bed very early in the morning and goes back to sleep with us. It's eventually going to get easier right?! Or she can just sleep with us forever. I wouldn't mind that. Jordan would though. Haha.
Jordan took this picture of her after she finally gave in and passed out. She looks so peaceful after all that crying.
On a happier note. We took Jess to go see The Little Mermaid in the theater. They were playing it in only a few theaters around the country. She was so excited because Ariel is her second favorite princess next to Cinderella.
It was a fun experience because they are trying this new thing out where you take your iPad and download an app so you can interact with the movie. It had little games to play and sing alongs and trivia questions. She was still a little young for all of it but she still had fun with a few games and Jordan and I played the others. I had a blast being able to sing all the songs I loved as a child. I didn't even need to look at the words to sing them. The Little Mermaid has always been my favorite Disney movie.
I will try to have some more before and after pictures when we are done going through this mess. But it is nice to finally have a place to call home. Or our "other new house" as Jess calls it.
